The Victorian Aboriginal Education Association Incorporated have teamed up with Storylines; a project designed to find, share and tell stories from the past and present to inspire the future.
Storylines is a digital publishing project that provides local community members, schools, organizations and the broader community with a culturally safe process and online environment to share and celebrate Aboriginal, non-secret, non-sacred stories of history, culture and achievement. Providing a meeting point at which information about history and heritage can be determined and shared.
Our partnership with Storylines will allow us to share and tell unique stories about our community via the Local Aboriginal Consultative Groups and offer a platform to document success across the education sector in Victoria.
Storylines was developed by Burraga Foundation, in partnership with the NSW Aboriginal community. The Burraga Foundation is a not-for-profit, DGR-endorsed Aboriginal organisation that is registered with Supply Nation.
The establishment of the Burraga Foundation was inspired by Joe Anderson, also known as King Burraga, an Aboriginal activist and leader. Joe used one of the most modern communication technologies of his era – film – to record his call for Aboriginal representation in Federal Parliament and self-determination, a message that was visionary and transcended generations.
