VAEAI is made up of:
- Local Aboriginal Consultative Groups (LAECGs),
- VAEAI Representative Council (VRC, formerly the VAEAI Committee of Management),
- Executive Committee (formerly Officer Bearers),
- Specialist Representatives,
- VAEAI Secretariat.
VAEAI is a statewide organisation with a regional structure based on traditional networks. Within each region are a number of Local Aboriginal Education Consultative Groups. There are currently 32 LAECGs across the state of Victoria.
The working arm of VAEAI is its Secretariat, based in Northcote. The Secretariat works to the advice and direction of VAEAI’s Representative Council. VAEAI’s Representative Council is comprised of the Chairs from all 32 LAECGs, the Executive Committee and Specialist Representatives.
