Corrections Victoria – Training Opportunities for Koorie Prisoners

Meerta Meerta – The Koori Education, Training and Employment Strategy (2011-2013)

Meerta Meerta has been implemented by Corrections Victoria to provide real and positive opportunities to the Koori prisoner population through improved education, training and employment practices. The strategy is based on national and international research which shows that well designed and delivered vocational education and training programs can contribute to reducing recidivism and increasing employment and health outcomes for participating prisoners.

Corrections Victoria has engaged a number of TAFE Institutes to work with Victorian prisons to provide vocational and education opportunities for Koori prisoners. These are:
